Life Happens…Be Educated
Diane Mickle Gotebiowski has been in the home healthcare industry for over fourty years.
EDUCATED. EXPERIENCED. AUTHENTIC.
Diane is Physical Therapist at heart and completed her undergraduate work at Russell Sage/Albany Medical College, School of Physical Therapy. At the time of her enrollment, the Russell Sage physical therapy program was associated with Albany Medical College and Diane graduated with a diploma from Russell Sage College in combination with a diploma from Albany Medical College.
“I was blessed to be a part of this shared program as I got to train alongside of medical students with the resources of the medical college. Because of this association, my undergraduate program had a very strong medical component, which had a great impact on my career.” ~Diane Mickle Gotebiowski
After completing some graduate work at Russell Sage, in 2006 Diane received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois.
“This was a fabulous program and one of the best educational experiences of my career. The institution’s namesake, Dr. Franklin was an unsung hero in the discovery of the double-helix structure of DNA, and in her name the University carries on her legacy, challenging individuals to dig deeper, reach further and continue exploring. ” ~Diane Mickle Gotebiowski
Her professional career began in New Hampshire, working in an acute care hospital. From there she returned to New York State continuing to work in acute care. Diane then embarked on a traveling PT adventure, where she gained a diverse experience working in various settings in West Virginia, Alabama, Florida, and Illinois.
In 1988 Diane Mickle Gotebiowski opened a private physical therapy practice in Catskill, NY, serving the residents of Greene, Columbia, and Ulster counties for nearly 20 years. This path was not linear, while operating her practice, she explored and contributed with roles in long term care management- leading rehabilitation, and care teams in several regional Skilled Nursing Facilities.
“Owning my own private practice was liberating in many ways. I could react and provide based on patient needs. If a client had a challenge at home, I went to their home. If they had a challenge related to our treatment goals at their worksite, I went to their worksite. The toughest part was dealing with the many different reimbursement models, rules and procedures. The patient care, that was the easy part.” ~Diane Mickle Gotebiowski
In 2011 Diane joined the Eddy Visiting Nurse and Rehab Association based in Troy, NY. Redefining her career once more, she took a position as a clinician in the field. She was eventually promoted and held leadership roles in their Chronic Disease management and Quality/Performance Improvement programs.
Working at the Eddy helped her to further her ideology and understanding of home care needs, resources and unique challenges.
“This was a privileged role as you can’t see what your patient has to deal with on a day to day basis otherwise. It’s also a huge privilege to be allowed into someone’s home to be able to see where they live, see what’s important to them… It’s the necessary research to get to the desired solution.” ~Diane Mickle Gotebiowski
